Privacy Policy
PolicyPal Virginia · Last updated: February 8, 2026
Lissiland, LLC (“Lissiland,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the PolicyPal VA mobile application (“App”) and the website at policypalvirginia.com (“Site”). This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and share information in connection with the App and Site. By using the App or Site, you agree to the practices described below.
1. Information We Collect
Information stored on your device (local data). The App stores data locally on your device using Apple’s standard storage (e.g., UserDefaults). This may include: your saved representatives and district, ZIP code (if you provide it), watchlists of bills you track, AI summary cache for bills and watchlists, and chat or session history for in-app AI features. We do not upload this data to our own servers; it stays on your device unless you use features that send data to third-party services (e.g., AI summaries).
Location. If you use the “Who Represents Me” or similar feature, the App may request your device location (with your permission) to determine your ZIP code and show your Virginia delegates and senators. You can also enter your ZIP code manually. Location is used only for that purpose and is not stored on our servers.
Purchases and subscriptions. When you subscribe or make in-app purchases, Apple processes the transaction. We receive from Apple only the information needed to grant you access to subscription features (e.g., product ID, entitlement status). We do not receive or store your payment card details.
Website use. When you visit the Site (e.g., to download the app or open a bill link), our hosting provider may log standard technical data such as IP address, browser type, and pages viewed. We do not use cookies or tracking for advertising on the Site; the Site is informational and used to direct you to the App.
2. How We Use Information
We use the information described above to: provide and improve the App and Site; personalize your experience (e.g., your representatives and watchlists); deliver AI summaries and features when you request them; manage subscriptions and access; and comply with law or protect rights and safety. We do not sell your personal information.
3. Third-Party Services and Data Sharing
The App and Site use the following third-party services, which may collect or process data as described in their own privacy policies:
- Apple: App distribution, in-app purchases (StoreKit), and device services. Apple’s privacy policy applies to App Store and purchase data: apple.com/legal/privacy.
- Google Gemini (Generative Language API): When you use AI features (e.g., bill summaries, chat), the text you request and bill/context data are sent to Google’s API to generate responses. Google’s terms and privacy policy apply: policies.google.com/privacy.
- Google Mobile Ads and User Messaging Platform: The App may show ads via Google Mobile Ads. The Google User Messaging Platform may be used to obtain or manage consent for personalized advertising. Data practices are governed by Google’s advertising and privacy policies.
- Virginia Legislative Information System (LIS): Bill, member, committee, and schedule data are requested from the Commonwealth’s LIS (lis.virginia.gov). Requests may include session and bill identifiers; see the Commonwealth’s privacy and data practices for LIS.
We do not control these providers. We encourage you to review their privacy policies. We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights or safety, or in connection with a merger or sale of assets.
4. Data Retention
Data stored only on your device remains until you delete the App or clear its data. Cached AI summaries may be cleared from within the App (e.g., via Settings). We do not retain copies of your local data on our servers. Logs held by our hosting or third-party providers are retained according to their policies and our need for security and operations.
5. Your Choices and Rights
You can: (a) decline location permission and enter your ZIP code manually; (b) clear or reset data stored in the App (e.g., watchlists, representatives, AI cache) through in-app options; (c) manage ad preferences via your device settings and any consent prompts we show; and (d) cancel subscriptions through your Apple ID subscription settings. If you are in a jurisdiction that grants additional rights (e.g., access, deletion, portability), contact us at the email below and we will respond in accordance with applicable law.
6. Children
The App and Site are not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such information, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it.
7. Security
We use reasonable measures to protect information transmitted to or from our services. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; you use the App and Site at your own risk.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised policy on this page and update the “Last updated” date. Continued use of the App or Site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
